Do you want to study composition?
Would you or your student like to get started composing but are in need of mentorship and direction? Do you want to learn music theory and musicianship skills in a hands-on way in preparation for studying music at the university level? Are you in between degree programs and need help getting your work up to snuff? Are you a professional musician looking to expand your musical toolkit?

If your answer to any of these questions is yes, I can help! I've been trained by some of the greatest minds in new music and I have a passion for helping other musicians get ahead. I offer 30-minute and 60-minute online lessons. Lessons consist of feedback on student compositions, score study, listening, and composition exercises (if necessary to get a beginning composer started). During lessons we examine the student's work together and brainstorm solutions to compositional problems that may have arisen. Students are also encouraged to bring any outside listening they find edifying to meetings where we tease out what compels the student about those works. Students will also be pressed to push their boundaries into as many idioms as possible.

For high school students, I charge $30 for 30 minutes and $45 for 60 minutes. For adult students, I charge $40 for 30 minutes and $60 for 60 minutes. The first lesson is free. Scholarships are available.
